Mission Trips

In 2008 I joined Release Potential on a ten day trip to Pakistan which I excitedly, yet somewhat nervously, accepted. I'm a keen traveller so this seemed like a great opportunity to visit a new part of the world. However, it turned out to be an extremely moving and humbling experience which will stay with me forever.

I presumed Release and their partners would be working with a handful of Christian families who were, in some way, suffering for their faith. I was keen to meet them and hear their stories and learn a little more about life as a Christian in Pakistan. I was shocked however, when I arrived, to find out how many people Release’s partners were supporting and how wide-spread the problems Christians faced were.

I ended up meeting dozens of Pakistani Christians who are being persecuted in various forms and most of their situations were quite frankly heartbreaking.

Most of the time all I could do was pray with them and provide a shoulder to cry on , I couldn't help but feel that it was I who was being impacted the most.

My eyes were opened to persecution, and my heart for the Church has grown significantly stronger. Though much of the trip was challenging, I was encouraged to see the work of Christians having a major effect on the lives of those in desperate need of support.

I would highly recommend anyone who is able to go on a trip with Release. I can honestly say, that it will change you from the inside out.
